Robert Covington accumulated no defensive stats in the Timberwolves' 127-126 overtime win on Wednesday, finishing with 15 points (6-of-11 shooting), nine rebounds and three 3-pointers in 33 minutes.
Covington is usually a defensive stat magnet, so this line is a bit of an aberration for him. The line otherwise is quite good, so this was a rather encouraging start to the season assuming that the lack of defensive numbers is an outlier. He was putting up second-round value on the Wolves before he got hurt last year, so his cieling is sky-high as long as he can stay healthy. Expect him to get some swipes and swats in his next game Friday against the Hornets.
