Ryan Anderson has been playing as a center since returning from injury, a look that Mike D’Antoni says we’ll be seeing more of.
“Matchups, maybe in the playoffs, will be different here and there, but right now we’re going to look at this,” D’Antoni said. For his part, Anderson doesn’t think it’ll be a big adjustment and seems to welcome the opportunity. “I run into a lot of pick-and-rolls anyway. It gives me an opportunity to create a ton of mismatches and spreads the court. If everyone is spreading the court, I can mix in rolls. A lot of times when we play our smaller lineups, I guard the big, anyway.” While it’ll be a nice wrinkle for Houston to have in its back pocket, it won’t do anything for Anderson’s minimal fantasy value. It also suggests, unsurprisingly, that they’re going to prioritize more defensively capable guys like P.J. Tucker and Luc Mbah a Moute at the power forward spot in the postseason.
