Appearing on NBC Sports Boston's Celtics Talk podcast, Robert Williams' college coach Billy Kennedy said that Williams needs to improve his focus, consistency and conditioning in the NBA.
Coach Kennedy specified that the 2x SEC defensive player of year needs to be 'more assertive and aggressive' defending ball screens and with his help defense, and that he plays down to the level of competition. Kennedy added that Williams is a "disrupter" offensively and defensively and is good with people from teammates to the janitors. "He likes to have fun, sometimes too much fun" but is not a spoiled kid. Kennedy believes he'll benefit once he gets around pros like Al Horford and that he'll get more tic later in the season as he adjusts to the pro game. Luckily, Williams couldn't have been drafted into a better situation and hopefully the Celtics' strong culture and wunderkind coach Brad Stevens can coax the best out of him.
