Even though the Cavs won’t know what LeBron James intends to do this summer when they execute their NBA draft plan on Thursday, league sources suggested to Cleveland.com that Kemba Walker could be in play.
The Cavs have reportedly already inquired about Kawhi Leonard's availability from the Spurs, and Kemba Walker could also be an option as the team is looking to upgrade their team from the group that was swept out of the Finals this month. Because of league rules, the Cavs must make their pick on Thursday, but they could trade it immediately or sign the player and then wait 30 days to trade him, just like they did when they drafted Andrew Wiggins in 2014 and then traded him for Kevin Love. The Cavs' front office and James' camp have been in contact over the phone and in person, though there has been no meeting with LeBron present, nor has there been any real dialogue regarding his future with the team. It’s anyone’s guess what Cleveland does on Thursday with their pick but you should expect more trade talk in the next 48 hours.
