While former Cavs coach Tyronn Lue is considered by many to be the frontrunner to be the next coach of the Lakers, Marc Stein of the New York Times says that the team has some reservations about reuniting Lue with superstar LeBron James.
The buzz circulating in coaching circles is that Monty Williams has a stronger-than-expected shot at the job because some in the Lakers’ organization may fear hiring Lue would be giving LeBron too much control. Lue, who along with James, helped lead the Cavs to the 2016 NBA championship, would bring some baggage if he were to assume the coaching position and it remains to be seen who makes the call for the hire in the next few weeks.
