Keith Pompey of the Phily Inquirer is reporting that the Sixers are one of the frontrunners to sign Kyle Korver after he becomes an unrestricted free agent on Wednesday.
The team had discussions about trading Jerryd Bayless to the Cavaliers for Korver last summer, while they were also interested in acquiring him before the Cavs traded him to the Jazz last November. Getting Korver would enable the Sixers to bring back a fan favorite who is one of the league’s top three-point shooters. The 16-year veteran shot 39.7 percent on three-pointers last season with the Cavs and the Jazz, while he has shot 42.9 percent from three-point range through 1,174 career games. Korver would most likely come off the bench as Ben Simmons, Josh Richardson, Tobias Harris, Al Horford, and Joel Embiid are the expected starters. The Sixers don’t have a proven knockdown three-point shooter on Korver’s level and he would be able to fill that hole if he chooses to return to Philadelphia.
