According to league front office sources, the Spurs are viewed as a team with significant interest in Kristaps Porzingis, even though it will be difficult for San Antonio to create enough cap space this summer.
As KP continues to rehabilitate his torn left ACL, teams around the league are looking ahead to this offseason. The Latvian forward will be a restricted free agent and the Knicks will have the chance to match any offer he signs. The team itself is expected to offer him an incentive-based contract similar to the one that Embiid received, but this approach comes with risks as it was less than two years ago that Porzingis skipped his exit interview. It remains to be seen whether Kristaps plays any games with the Knicks this year but it’s certain that there will be plenty of interest in him during the summer.
