Stephen A. Smith said that he's heard from league executives who wouldn't be shocked if Kawhi Leonard sat out next season in order to work his way to the Lakers.
The Sixers think they can convince him to re-sign and the Clippers are still interested, but if this is anywhere close to true (again: consider the source) then it might give everyone in the non-Lakers category some pause. While this seems highly, highly unlikely, the fact that Leonard remained sidelined through San Antonio's medical clearance because of "discomfort" is something that should come into play, as there's already been a precedent set for him to sit through the issue without a timetable or many updates. It's not like teams can tell him when he's not feeling discomfort. The Spurs might play hardball here but things should get resolved before this becomes a serious consideration.
