The Suns approached the Sixers in recent weeks about a trade for T.J. McConnell, offering a second-round pick, but the Sixers declined the offer.
Phoenix had been in desperate need of a starting-caliber point guard this offseason, reportedly going after Patrick Beverley, Cory Joseph and Spencer Dinwiddie among others. They have to settle for Isaiah Canaan and Jamal Crawford for now and owners should be wise to avoid drafting any point guard from the Suns. McConnell played 22 minutes in the Sixers season-opener last night scoring four points to go with three assists and one rebound and he should continue to get minutes as long as Wilson Chandler and Mike Muscala remain sidelined.
