Sam Mitchell surprisingly gave his young core of players all the minutes they could handle on Monday, starting Ricky Rubio, Zach LaVine, Andrew Wiggins, Karl-Anthony Towns and Gorgui Dieng for over 30 minutes each in the Wolves’ 108-103 loss to the Hornets on Monday night.
The youth movement in Minnesota isn’t official yet, but tonight was a step in the right direction for Mitchell’s young guns. LaVine played nearly 45 minutes on Monday, scoring 19 points with four rebounds, two assists and two steals. Wiggins played over 40 minutes as well, shooting 11-for-17 with 25 points, five rebounds, one steal and one block. KAT added to his monstrous rookie campaign with a double-double, scoring 25 points while grabbing 14 rebounds and blocking two shots. KAT will be an early-round pick in redraft leagues next year. Rubio also double-doubled on Monday with 10 points, 10 assists and five rebounds.
