Serge Ibaka scored 16 points with five boards on Wednesday night, sliding over to center for Game 2 against the Cavs.
On paper the Raptors decision to move Jonas Valanciunas to the bench and Ibaka to the pivot makes sense, as it allows Ibaka to protect the rim instead of chasing Cleveland’s stretchy bigs around the perimeter. Unfortunately for Toronto, with Ibaka glued to Tristan Thompson, the Cavs torched them from deep to the tune of 54.5%. Ibaka did add one steal and one block to his scoring and boards, but he’ll need to have a much bigger impact in Game 3 if the Raps hope to right the ship in Toronto.
