Elfrid Payton played just 24 minutes (four fouls) on Saturday night, opening the doors for Shelvin Mack to produce nine points, four rebounds, nine assists, one steal and two 3-pointers in 26 minutes.
Mack still played less than D.J. Augustin, who produced eight points, seven assists, three steals and a three while shooting 2-of-8 in 27 minutes, but it was a pretty clear timeshare tonight. Expect this situation to get worse while the Magic wait for Evan Fournier to return. It has the looks of a hot-hand situation, which means almost no predictable outcomes on any given night. Payton is obviously the best bet of the three and should be back to top-75 numbers soon enough. His quiet 11 points, one rebound and three assists tonight could represent a buy low opportunity.
