Kawhi Leonard posted 18 points on 8-of-11 in 20 minutes while Lamarcus Aldridge produced 12 points and four boards on 5-of-8 shooting in 18 minutes in Monday’s loss to the Blazers.
Tony Parker played just 20 minutes as well and finished with 12 & 4. There was nothing to play for so the Spurs just wanted to keep their starters sharp until the playoffs.
Leonard finished as a top-7 asset which is actually a drop from top-4 last season. The star forward has improved as a scorer this season averaging 4 more ppg and five points higher in usage, but has sacrificed slightly in shooting percentage, rebounds, turnovers and blocks. Still who’s complaining?
Aldridge dropped from 26 to 54. Surprisingly his minutes are actually slightly up from last year, but his biggest drops come in rebounding and field goal percentage. The boards drop is likely due to the Spurs acquisition of Pau Gasol. The field goal percentage because of Big Al attempting more threes this season.
The 16-year veteran Parker has been flat out awful this year dropping more than 100 ranking spots. He is still only 34, but all those Spurs playoff runs are taking their toll on him.
