Pistons coach Stan Van Gundy believes that Stanley Johnson is a huge part of the Pistons’ trying to become an elite defensive team in the NBA next season.
“I think now we have a chance to become an elite defensive team and Stanley’s a huge part of that,” Van Gundy said.
Johnson has had his struggles through the first two years of his NBA career, on both sides of the ball. Averaging just 6.2 points on 36.7 percent shooting from the field through two seasons, his offense leaves a lot to be desired so far. But it’s his defense that the Pistons will be needing moving forward and he has all the tools to become a lockdown guy. He’s a deep league option at most in fantasy play, but has the potential to develop into a late-round talent throughout the season.
