Taj Gibson delivered after being placed in the starting five on Saturday, producing 18 points and nine rebounds while shooting 6-of-12 from the floor and a surprising 2-of-2 from deep.
Gibson did his damage in 28 minutes and the old Thibs favorite added a block for good measure. It’s certainly possible that he supplants Gorgui Dieng in the starting lineup, but we’ll stop short of that declaration for now. It’s hard to argue with the results from game one, as both players turned in strong nights. Winning the starting job would give Gibson some low-end appeal but the more meaningful fantasy impact would be the cap it’d place on Dieng’s top-100 potential. This is suddenly a camp battle to watch.
