Terry Rozier had a rough go of things in his Hornets debut Wednesday, finishing with seven points (2-of-10 shooting), six assists, four rebounds, two 3-pointers and four turnovers in 30 minutes of action.
To put it nicely, it was a less than ideal start for Rozier. His glaring weaknesses (poor shooting, high turnover rate) were on full display and he got benched down the stretch in crunch time in favor of second-year guard Devonte’ Graham. We won’t get carried away with the fourth quarter benching, but head coach James Borrego made it clear that he isn't afraid to go with the hot hand, even if it negatively imapacts their big free agent signing. There will be games where he will blow you away with the ridiculous counting stats, but it’s clear that it’s going to take time for him to adjust to being the leading man in an offense. Those who drafted him hopefully complimented him with guys with strong FG percentages, because things are going to be ugly with his shooting all season long.
