The Magic have acquired center Dakari Johnson and cash from the Thunder in exchange for guard Rodney Purvis.
It's a pure depth move for both teams. Johnson had no shot at minutes with the Thunder adding Nerlens Noel, and he can at least provide insurance for Orlando behind Nikola Vuecvic, Mo Bamba and Khem Birch with occasional minutes at the four if Steve Clifford feels so inclined. OKC adds Purvis, a late addition to the Magic's roster last season, to shore up their guard depth. He averaged 6.0 points in 18.1 minutes across 16 games but doesn't figure to see that much playing time for the Thunder. It's also possible, if not likely, that one or both players are waived in the near future.
