According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the Timberwolves value Jimmy Butler as an elite player and do not intend on trading him.
It seems like the Timberwolves are trying to gain some leverage back after Butler publicly announced he wanted to be traded. The controversy between Butler and Andrew Wiggins is undeniable and it is hard to believe that these two will play alongside each other this season. Butler has stated that he has three preferred teams, but this opens up the possibility that the Timberwolves would be willing to move on from Wiggins if it means keeping Butler.
