The Pistons go to training camp next week with two dead-solid locks to be starters in Blake Griffin and Andre Drummond and two odds-on starters, in Reggie Jackson and Tony Snell.
Snell got ran out of the rotation in the 2018-19 season in Milwaukee by coach Mike Budenholzer as he did not fit into the playing scheme. He averaged his second-lowest (after his rookie year) minutes per game but the Pistons have a gaping hole at the small forward position, which means that there are plenty of minutes to be had for a player like him. Snell has the opportunity to re-establish himself as a spot-up shooter next to Griffin and Drummond, while Piston’s coach Dwane Casey will try to utilize his ability to guard multiple positions. He will have to shoot better from behind the 3-point line but his 3-and-D presence will be a welcome sight for the Pistons after not having a small forward on the roster after the trade deadline last season.
