Tristan Thompson shot 3-for-6 from the field and 2-for-4 from the line for eight points with 14 boards, two assists and two blocks in 40 minutes in the Cavs 104-93 win on Monday.
Thompson was all over the boards, collecting seven offensive rebounds and seven on defense. He had a few key boards late in the game to extend possessions when it got close, which was the difference in the game. While he doesn’t dominate the stat sheet often, Thompson is a big presence inside and makes life easier for LeBron and company.
J.R. Smith also played his role nicely, shooting 4-for-7 from the field with all four of his makes from beyond the arc for 12 points, five rebounds, three assists and one steal. Smith had a Flagrant 1 after hitting Paul Millsap in the head. He hasn’t had his patented outburst just yet, but you can expect it to come at some point.
