Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald is reporting that the agent for Wayne Ellington and the Heat have held discussions about working on a trade for the veteran shooting guard.
Ellington has appeared in just 22 games this season and is averaging 7.9 points on 37 percent from behind the arc. He has been the odd man out in the Heat’s rotation recently and he is seeking more minutes but the team conveyed to Ellington’s camp that they value him and no promises about a trade were made. The veteran shooting guard signed a one-year, $6.3 million deal last summer and he has the right to approve any trade. The Lakers and Pelicans have been linked to Ellington but it’s unlikely a deal happens at this moment.
