Isaac Bonga, Justin Anderson, Admiral Schofield and Jordan McRae are all candidates to start at small forward when the Wizards begin their regular season next week.
Most of the Wizards’ starting lineup is secured, but injuries have eliminated top small forwards Troy Brown and CJ Miles from the rotation for the foreseeable future. The decision will reportedly come down to a second-year player packed with potential who lacks in-game experience, a training-camp invitee who signed a non-guaranteed contract, a rookie who has to do what he is told and a veteran accustomed to fighting for a roster spot. The Wizards have one more preseason game left on Friday in Philadelphia, and the four-man race will continue, but whoever emerges will only have short term value as the Wizards will likely insert Troy Brown to the lineup once he is back from the left calf strain he suffered before training camp.
