Extension discussions between guard Lou Williams and the LA Clippers have gathered significant momentum, and a new contract is within reach before Thursday afternoon’s NBA trade deadline, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
That’s quite surprising as Sweet Lou has been one of the most heavily involved names in trade discussions during the last couple weeks. A potential extension for Williams will likely intensify the pursuit of Tyreke Evans, whom several teams have been targeting, while Marcus Smart and Jordan Clarkson might also generate more interest. It’s also possible that the Clippers will be moving away from Avery Bradley who is an unrestricted free agent this summer and can also be traded before Thursday. This seems like good news for Williams’ owners as he is enjoying a career year in Los Angeles and a move could diminish his value but stay tuned until an extension is official.
