The Spurs are now fully engaged in Kawhi Leonard trade talks with several teams, including the Lakers and Celtics.
Both teams have been in on Leonard from the start, with Boston reportedly making an offer last season. Woj doesn't mention the Sixers, who were also rumored to be in the mix. The Lakers may feel compelled to trade for Kawhi so they can have an elite-level teammate to help attract LeBron James, even if it seems like a foregone conclusion that Leonard will sign with them as a free agent next summer anyway. That still isn't a sure thing, with this year's Paul George saga serving as proof. The Celtics can offer up a bevy of trade chips — Woj believes they have pieces that the Spurs covet more — and Boston and L.A. only figure to drive the price up on one another before the Spurs find an acceptable package. With Marc Stein of the New York Times saying that the Spurs are ready to move on, it looks like a matter of "when," not "if," we see a Kawhi Leonard trade.
