The Thunder are promoting assistant Mark Daigneault to become the franchise’s next head coach, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Sam Presti hired Daigneault out of the University of Florida in 2014 and he coached their G League affiliate, the OKC Blue, for five years posting a .572 winning percentage and three division titles before moving to the Thunder’s coaching staff for the 2019-2020 season. He takes over just three weeks before the opening of training camp with a roster that could well be in flux between now and opening night but the franchise is very high on him and he will get a chance to develop their young nucleus.
