Zach LaVine won’t be playing with the Bulls at the start of the season because he is still recovering from the torn ACL he suffered last season.
This was expected, even though LaVine has come out saying that he’s roaring to play and that his recovery is going well. The Bulls are definitely going to be careful with LaVine as he is the most promising player that they have. The Bulls completely committed to rebuilding when they traded away Jimmy Butler this offseason, and 22 year old LaVine is a major part of that. Before he went down last year, he was having somewhat of a breakout season, averaging 18.9 points, 3.4 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 0.9 steals on .459 percent from the field and .387 percent from beyond the arc in 37.2 minutes. If LaVine can stay healthy, he’ll have all the opportunity he needs in Chicago to truly breakout and build on the strong season he had last year.
