Bobby Portis has agreed to a two-year, $31 million deal with the Knicks.
New York drafted Kevin Knox last season but decided to spend a combined $94 million on five years of Julius Randle and Bobby Portis tonight. The newcomers may handle some backup center minutes but Randle and Portis figure to cut into each other's minutes, and therefore fantasy value, at the four spot. Portis was said to be looking for $16 million annually and this will certainly fit the bill. We'll see what his minutes look like once the games begin, but it's not a great spot for fantasy value given the other bodies in New York's frontcourt. The Wizards will rescind their qualifying offer, allowing Portis to head to the Knicks as an unrestricted free agent.
