Haynes: Bismack Biyombo reaches agreement with Hornets

Yahoo's Chris Haynes reports that Bismack Biyombo has agreed to a deal with the Hornets.

Biyombo should return to a backup center role for the Hornets next season, similar to the one he held last season. Cody Zeller may or may not be on the trade block but the Hornets' inability to definitively upgrade their center position this offseason gives Biyombo a glimmer of hope for deep fantasy formats.

Elie Okobo

The Suns have waived Elie Okobo.

This leaves the Suns with one open roster spot. Okobo wasn't a major part of the rotation in Phoenix, scoring an average of 4.0 points in 13.1 minutes per contest in 2019-20. Okobo only played one game after the NBA restart which didn't give him much of a chance to make a final case for keeping him on the roster.

Jordan Bone

Jordan Bone has agreed to a two-way deal with the Magic, per Shams Charania.

Bone was the 57th pick in the 2019 draft and played sparingly for the Pistons last season, making just 10 appearances. That's unlikely to change in Orlando.

DeMarcus Cousins

DeMarcus Cousins has agreed to a deal with the Rockets, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

The Rockets are making a hard pivot away from their old small-ball ways, rolling the dice on a former All-Star in Cousins. Two significant leg injuries (torn Achilles, torn ACL) have limited Cousins to 78 appearances over the last three seasons and it's fair to question what he has left in the tank, but there's a chance that he can earn a starting job in Houston. It's a low-risk deal at just one non-guaranteed season. The Rockets, despite Russell Westbrook and James Harden signaling that they might not want to be in Houston long-term, don't appear ready to tear it down with their win-now additions to the frontcourt this offseason.

Sindarius Thornwell
SG, New Orleans Pelicans

The Pelicans have re-signed Sindarius Thornwell, per ESPN's Andrew Lopez.

Thornwell was with the Pelicans in the bubble last season and appeared in two games. He should be at the end of New Orleans' bench and is unlikely to play outside of garbage time next season.

Wenyen Gabriel

The Pelicans have agreed to a two-year deal with Wenyen Gabriel, per ESPN's Andrew Lopez.

Gabriel showed pretty well in the bubble with the Blazers last season, emerging as a starter when the team was racked with injuries. It's a decent upside gamble for the Pelicans, especially at the veteran's minimum. The Pels do have a number of PFs on the roster already so Gabriel will have to earn whatever minutes he gets next season.
