James Johnson and Dion Waiters, who will soon be free agents, have lined up public appearances in Miami during the 2017 free agency.
James Johnson will be the celebrity guest at Tony Fiorentino’s Heat youth camp less than two weeks out from the July 1 start of free agency. Dion Waiters is expected to appear at a July 8 celebrity softball charity game at Barry University in Miami Shores in advance of the MLB All-Star Game at Marlins Park. In addition, Waiters will be taping an episode of A&E Network’s “Celebrity Sweat” on July 7 that will feature a ‘Miami flavor’. However, all of this should be taken with a grain of salt, especially as Dwyane Wade showed the Heat last year that nothing is certain during free agency. Both Johnson and Waiters had very impressive years, certainly their best from a fantasy basketball perspective. When asked about free agency, Johnson said “We try to stay away from that, to be honest. When we get together, we’re just the same normal James and Dion. We’re not worried about basketball or what’s to come.”
