After signing Nigel Hayes two days ago, the Knicks have also come to terms with Jamel Artis and Xavier Rathan-Mayes to partially guaranteed, one-year contracts.
All three players will be battling for the Knicks’ final final two-way contract as they gave their first one to Luke Kornet. Jamel Artis, a four-year senior from Pittsburgh has already shown to be a prolific scorer as well as a good passer with rebounding and defensive upside. The prototypical small-forward averaged 18.2 points with 4.9 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.3 triples his senior season and impressed in limited summer league minutes.
Rathan-Mayes played three years at Florida state and his role and minutes decreased in each year. His three-year averages were 12.4 points, 3.2 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 1.3 triples and 1.0 steals. He led the Knicks summer league team in assists in just under 18 minutes per game.
