Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical reported that even though Phil Jackson is no longer with the Knicks, they would still rather trade Carmelo Anthony than buy him out.
The problem with trading Melo is that he still has his no-trade clause, and the Knicks can’t pull the trigger on a trade unless he approves of it. However, with Phil Jackson now gone, he might make it easier on the Knicks and drop his option. The Knicks would rather get something back that can help them in their rebuilding process but that would most likely involve trading Melo to a team thats not very good. Carmelo obviously wants to end up on a contending team, preferably the Rockets or Cavaliers due to the fact that they have his close friends Chris Paul and LeBron James. The Knicks/Melo story has been going on for almost the entire regular season and should continue to be one of the biggest stories of the offseason.
