Willie Reed said that he would prefer to re-sign with the Heat this summer.
“I love this team, I love these guys in the locker room. Being here would be great. Hopefully something works out,” Reed said. He will likely turn down his $1.6 million player option in order to test free agency and should be getting a handsome raise. The Heat will prioritize signing Dion Waiters and James Johnson first, so there’s still a possibility that Reed ends up on another team depending on his asking price. He averaged 5.3 points, 4.7 rebounds and 0.7 blocks in 14.5 minutes per game last season.
