The Hawks closed out the 2017 NBA draft by selecting Alpha Kaba out of France with the 60th pick of the night.
Kaba stands 6’10” and weighs 226 pounds, operating at the five spot for Mega Bemax in Serbia. He’s the third player from Mega Bemax to be drafted in the second round, joining Vlatko Cancar (49th) and Ongjen Jaramaz (58th). Kaba averaged 10.3 points and 8.3 boards and his sheer size makes him an easy target around the rim. He can also step out and shoot, attempting 1.6 triples per game this year, though he connected at a 33 percent clip. He remains very raw but has plenty of physical skills that make him a worthwhile selection this late in the draft. He’s one to track carefully for Hawks fans.
