The Pacers hosted a pre-draft workout with several draft prospects including Justin Jackson and Donovan Mitchell on Thursday.
North Carolina’s Jackson and Louisville’s Mitchell offer the Pacers both length and spacing on the wing. Jackson was the ACC Player of the Year and led his team to a college title while scoring 18.4 points with 2.6 three-pointers per game. The Tar Heel small forward is 6-foot-8 and 193-pounds. Mitchell averaged 15.6 points, 2.4 three-pointers and an impressive 2.1 steals per game in his sophomore year. Although he is just 6-foot-1, he boasts a surreal wingspan of 6-foot-10 combined with a 211-pound frame. Both Jackson and Mitchell are expected to be top-20 draft picks, and the Pacers should be happy if they land either of these enticing swingmen with their 18th pick in the draft. Their floor spacing and defense could be used well to compliment the rise of Myles Turner’s presence in the NBA, and both would learn a lot under a guy like Paul George.
