The Kings went with Kansas guard Frank Mason with the fourth pick of the second round, 34th overall.
Mason joins a totally revamped Kings backcourt as Sacramento continues their strong draft. He’s done plenty of winning in his four years with the Jayhawks and picked up the Naismith Award as 2017’s Player of the Year. A bit undersized at only 6’0″, he averaged 20.9 points, 4.2 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game as a senior. He also shot a stunning .471 from deep last year, though that’s likely to come back down to earth. Mason boasts terrific explosiveness and can get his own looks, profiling as more of a score-first guy than a facilitator. He’s also been lauded for his toughness and leadership, two things which should play well in the locker room.
