The Lakers are hopeful of bringing in Markelle Fultz next week, though it is uncertain whether he will workout or just meet with team officials.
Let’s be loud and clear: Fultz is expected to go with the first pick in the 2017 draft in June. If the Lakers want him, their second pick in the draft may not be enough. The 6’4” point guard averaged 23.2 points on 50.2 percent shooting from the field and 41.3 percent from the arc in his final year at college. He combined his lethal shooting with fantastic defensive efforts as he also averaged 1.6 steals and 1.2 blocks. The Washington product looks to have all the qualities to be a star point guard in today’s NBA and any team in the league would be able to use his talents to great effect, including the Lakers. However, there can be only one. The Celtics currently own that first pick and Fultz has already worked out in Boston, so it may just be due diligence on the Lakers’ part to talk to him. Nevertheless, crazy things have happened on draft night before. In the eternal words of Kevin Garnett, “Anything’s possible!”
