Ogugua “OG” Anunoby was drafted with the 23rd pick of the 2017 NBA draft by the Toronto Raptors
The Raptors appear to be thrilled with getting the 6-foot-8, 232-pound forward with quite a late pick in the draft. The Indiana sophomore averaged an impressive 18 points, 9 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 2.1 steals and 2.1 blocks per-40 minutes. He would certainly have been drafted higher if not for a battle with Penn State guard Nazeer Bostick as both players battled for a rebound, resulted in Anunoby tearing his ACL in his right knee and bringing an end to his sophomore season. However, it may have been a blessing in disguise for Anunoby as he seems like a very good fit in Toronto. “I always liked Toronto,” said Anunoby. “I always felt a connection. It was a family environment. They really cared about me, my whole family, and they just really believed in me, that I could be something special.” We look forward to seeing his infamous short shorts on the NBA stage.
