Just two days before the draft, the Celtics have yet to get Kansas’ Josh Jackson in for a workout according to Dave McMenamin of ESPN.
The Celtics were reportedly very high on Jackson and may have even had him as the top overall player on their board. It would certainly make some sense considering Danny Ainge’s recent comments that Boston would still be able to get “their guy” while trading out of the No. 1 slot. This report may also help explain the scuttlebutt surrounding Jayson Tatum, as several reports have come out indicating that he will be Boston’s choice at No. 3. ESPN’s Chad Ford followed this up by saying that Jackson’s camp won’t work out for the Celtics unless they assure him that they’ll keep the No. 3 overall selection and that it will be him who they select. Of course, that doesn’t mean Boston wouldn’t take him anyway. If they felt comfortable trading down to take him, the lack of an updated medical record is far more concerning than no individual pre-draft work.
