Bobby Portis scored 11 points on 5-of-8 shooting (including a three) with seven rebounds and four steals in 27 minutes off the bench on Tuesday against the Heat.
Portis said he was dealing with the rookie wall and some personal issues over the last month or so, and maybe that contributed to his bad play and maybe it didn’t. With Taj Gibson injuring his hamstring and an evaluation set for Wednesday morning, Portis is definitely on the radar as a speculative play but he’s not the run-to-the-wire guy folks thought he was in the first month of the season. He’s sitting on a seven-game stretch of top-130 value, averaging 10.3 points in 24.5 mpg with 0.7 treys, 8.6 boards, 1.2 combined steals and blocks and 42.5 percent shooting from the field. He has been much worse prior to that, but his recent play gives at least some room for hope.
