Bobby Portis played 30 minutes on Saturday against the jazz for 22 points, a triple and five rebounds.
Portis did shoot 10-of-13 so it’s not a sign of things to come. He has not been the player that the “Free Portis” movement said he would be but he is consistently getting rebounds. He hasn’t been doing much else and isn’t worth a roster spot despite playing 30 minutes. It’s also noteworthy that Nikola Mirotic started over Portis this game. Mirotic only scored five points in just 17 minutes, and while we still like his potential to close the year this was an inauspicious start for the newest member of Chicago’s starting lineup.
