Rookie Devin Booker scored a career-high 32 points in the Suns’ 97-94 loss to the Pacers on Tuesday.
Booker hit 9-of-16 shots (including six threes) and made all eight of his free throws, but only had two assists and four turnovers to fill in the rest of his stat line. He logged 40 minutes with all of the injuries and benchings surrounding him tonight, and obviously that’s way over his projected 24-32 minute mark for the rest of the season. At 19 years old we love his overall upside, but this season might not be the year for him as he’s returning just top 150-190 value (8/9 cat) in 29 mpg over his last 13 games. In that span he’s shooting very well at 48.6 percent from the field and 80 percent from the line, so improvement is going to have to come in the defense (0.6 combined steals/blocks) and FGA (10.8/gm) categories. Asking for more minutes is asking for a lot.
