Meyers Leonard scored 13 points on 5-of-9 shooting (including three treys) with five rebounds and four assists in 21 minutes off the bench on Saturday against the Magic.
Leonard has been a solid late-round value this past week and looking back for two weeks he has averaged 21.8 mpg, 9.5 points, 1.9 treys, 6.8 boards, 1.8 assists and just 0.2 combined steals and blocks. Those numbers are good for a lower-end brand of late-round production in 12-team leagues, but the move to play just center is clearly better for his rebounding stats and this is way closer to the type of production we thought we’d see.
The beat writers are back to calling for more Legend, and this could easily be a mini turning point that leads to late-round value with mid-round upside. We’re not going to ignore the disastrous fantasy season he has had, but just like we have to admit our bad preseason calls quickly we have to be just as quick to get back on the horse if the opportunity presents itself. He’s worth a pickup if you need a big man in 12-team leagues.
