J.R. Smith scored just four points with three rebounds in 25 minutes on Wednesday against the Nets.
Smith hit 2-of-9 shots and has produced well outside of the cut-line in most standard leagues this past week, but he was a beast the week before and that has averaged out to a late-round value in the last two weeks. Our gut tells us that he can benefit from Kyrie Irving’s return but it’s going to be a rocky road. He has healthy late-round value on the year in a 30 mpg sample, and owners probably want to use him for what he is — either a puncher’s chance at a big night or a long-play guy with late-round value once you iron out all the kinks.
