Marcus Thornton dropped a season-high 32 points on the Nets on Tuesday, hitting 12-of-18 shots (including five threes) with six rebounds, three assists and three steals in 26 minutes off the bench.
Thornton will be the prime beneficiary of any time off by Trevor Ariza and he has quite a bit of upside to go with a decent helping of risk. Corey Brewer might be the better match to replace Ariza and if Thornton goes cold early he might ride the pine. This all assumes Ariza misses time, and since he’s day-to-day owners should be looking at all of this in a short-term prism.
