Mike James scored 18 points on 7-of-14 shooting (including two threes) with six rebounds and two assists over 29 minutes in Friday’s loss to the Magic.
James has managed to keep late-round value in a 24.4 mpg sample this season and with a somewhat uncertain future it’s hard to get too excited about any mpg gains. Tyler Ulis (six points, three assists, two steals, 20 minutes) is a better prospect than James and for ‘Phoenix reasons’ they chose to get a good player in James that also just happens to steal minutes away from their higher upside player. Ulis can be dropped in 14-team formats until we get indications that this calculus is changing.
