Shane Larkin scored 18 points on 7-of-12 shooting with two rebounds, five assists, one steal and one trey in 34 minutes off the bench on Saturday against the Wolves.
This was a weird, uptempo game between bad teams and Larkin got the best of it between he and Donald Sloan (seven points, two assists, 14 minutes) tonight. We’ve been watching Larkin squander his opportunities all season but he now has a week of top 150-175 (8/9 cat) ball under his belt. To do it he has needed to average 27.8 minutes over his last four games, and at 66.7 percent free throw shooting in the small sample size that value would normally be a few rounds higher, but what really needs to happen is a total breakout. Larkin swung the position battle into flux over the last two games, and what we’ll be watching for is some sort of knockout punch. Sloan can be dropped because he’s not producing as a low upside player.
