Shelvin Mack scored 12 points on 5-of-17 shooting (including a three) with six rebounds, nine assists and two steals over 41 minutes in Wednesday’s overtime loss to the Warriors.
Mack continues to outproduce expectations and maybe it’s time to consider that he won’t fall off. This line, while inefficient, comes against one of the better defenses in the league and obviously it was a huge game — so clearly he’s established as a main cog now. That said, the criticism of Utah in this game was that they didn’t involve Rodney Hood as much as they should have. Hood hit 7-of-16 shots for 20 points, six boards, one steal and three treys, but it felt like he could and should have done more. Watch for Hood to take from Mack going forward.
