• Sam Amick of USA Today reported late Thursday night that unrestricted free agent DeMar DeRozan has decided to re-sign with the Raptors.

This was mostly expected and the terms of the deal aren’t finalized, and that’s an interesting situation because it has sounded like he may be open to taking a pay cut to try and keep Bismack Biyombo around.  We’ll have to see how that goes but Toronto gets to keep a semi-controversial player, who is a good locker room guy and has some upside to try and grow into what will be a massive contract.

Update: DeMar DeRozan’s contract with the Raptors is still being worked out according to Marc Spears of ESPN, but it’s expected to average $29 million per season.  The max is around $28 million per year in the first year (moratorium calculations pending) and the 7.5 percent raises are leading toward that $29 million average, but this would seem to suggest that Bismack Biyombo isn’t getting a tremendous amount of help from DeRozan.  All of this can change but if you’re reading tea leaves it would suggest that, at this level of pay, that Biyombo might be headed elsewhere.
