In an interview with Premium Sport (with helpful translation from Sportando), Danilo Gallinari said that the Nuggets are not his first choice in free agency this summer.
“Nuggets are not my first choice but they are exactly at the same level of the other teams. Denver’s advantage is that they can offer me a five-year contract while other franchises can offer me a four-year deal,” said Gallinari. It makes sense from a hardcore economic perspective and it’s rare to see a free agent so candid about his choice of destination. While he may not admit it, Denver remains the favorite to sign him this summer. He’s an important part of their terrific offense and unless there’s some off-board acquisition coming their way they’d like to keep Gallinari around. That being said, he won’t come cheaply coming off a terrific year.
