ESPN’s Brian Windhorst is reporting that Derrick Williams could be in the rotation for Friday’s Game 4.
Williams has only played garbage time in the postseason, but desperate times call for desperate measures. A big body, he could be used as another body to throw at Kevin Durant or might check Draymond Green in smaller lineups since the Cavs seem committed to cutting Tristan Thompson’s legs out from under him by playing fast. The athletic Williams would fit a more up-tempo game if Cleveland insists on a run and gun pace so he should be in line for real minutes tonight. Those could come at the expense of Thompson or Richard Jefferson. A true meritocracy would see Deron Williams out of the rotation so that might be a simple switch, though it would force LeBron James into even more ball-handling duties. Either way, expect to see the combo forward dusted off in a do-or-die game.
